The Stock Driving Act.

0 (Per Press Association.) Wellington, January 26. At the request of a large number of settlers Mr Lawry M.H.R., for Parnell, interviewed the Minister of Agriculture respecting provisions in the Stock Driving Act passed last session. Mr Lawry pointed out the objectionable nature of of the measure if strictly enforced. The Minister, in reply, said the object of the Act was to prevent sheep and cattle stealing and not to mterfcro with settlers or butchers removing stock from sale yards or paddocks. He also said that a circular would be sent to the inspectors of the stock department, instructing them to in-, form settlers that the intention was to protect and not tiaras? stock owners of the colony.
