The Feilding Library.
A meeting of the Feilding Library Committee was held last evening. Present — Messrs J. H. Stevens (chairman), T. Watson (secretary), .J. G. Cobbe, J. Greenwood, S. Andrew, W. H. Judkins, A. R. Allan, G. W. Fowles, and N. Friberg. It was resolved that the Mayor be requested to formally open the Library on Wednesday next, and that Messrs Stevens, Watson, and Judkins be a sub-committee to make necessary arrangements. The Chairman reported that the late librarian had refused to agree to fche new conditions of engagement, and had, therefore, resigned. The. individual action of the committee in calling for applications for the post of librarian was endorsed. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Cobbe, that a guinea be vested as a suitable present for Master B. Stevens for his services as acting- librarian during the past week, and that Messrs Allan and Cobbe be a sub-committee to select the same. Eleven applications were received for the post of librarian , and tbe committee " went into committee," on the motion of Mr Greenwood, to consider the qualifications and suitability of tbe several applicants, Mr W. Brandt being ap pointed.
