(Per Press Association). Auckland, Jan. 21. The body of Armstrong, one of the victims of the Kaipara boating fatality, has been recovered. Marringo's gum and general store at ' Mount Wesley, North Wairoa, was burned down. Buildings and stock were insured in the South British for i-1290, partly reinsured in the Northern. The Premier telegraphs to the Chairman of the Auckland branch of the Navy League that it is with pleasure he advises the forwarding of the resolution of the league to Lord Salisbury through the proper channel re his conduct in the Venezuelan and Transvaal questions. Dunedin, Jan. 21. The shearing of Campbell and Sons, at the Benmore station, has shown that the deaths in excess of the ordinary mortality through the severe winter were 32,661. Christchurch, January 22. A youth named Robert Bryant, grass seeding at Port Levy, was seriously burned last evening by his tent catching fire through a caudle being left burning. Solomon, the other occupant of the tent, sustained severe burns in rescuing his companion. Bryant was taken to Lyttelton to-day and is now in a precarious condition. Mr T. M. Taylor, a candidate for the vacant seat for Christchurch, addressed a fairly large meeting of electors to-night. He announced himself as a strong Government supporter.
