(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, Dec. 18. The New South Wales cricket team won the match against Canterbury this afternoon after an hour and a half's play. The game was piayed in very hot weather, and started at 2.40 p.m., New South Wales wanting 86 to win with 8 wickets in hand. Walford was not out with 82 and Poidevm with 15. The pair carried the snore along from 143 to 222 and then Walford was caught after a grand innings of 122. Hume made a single and was then bowled, and Buxton kept his wickits up until Poidevm rmtled ofl the required runs. The latter was not out with 58, and the total was 229 for 4 wickets, the visitors winning by 7 wickets. The team leave for Dunedin by Thursday's express.
