In recognition of the gallantry dispUyedin^seningthecrewof the French ;■ bazque Terra Neove off the island of St. ~ ~ Pan!, when the vessel was in a sinking ; oonditton, the Shipwreck Rehef Society ' ~ has presented the captain and officers ol the rescuing vessel Aristides, each with * medal, and also those comprising the rescuing boat's'crew (five in number) with a silver medal and L 5 each. Previooaly the French Consul-General had visited the Aristides and had officially thanked the rescuers on behalf of the French Government and eulogised the bravery of all concerned.
