Ifc At the Midland Railway Arbitration to-day, a large number of witnesses were % examined on behalf of the down, their ' evidence being chiefly in the direction of the nature and extent of the reserves^ on the West Coast. ** . <. It was deposed that the miners at the Grey, at meetings held for the purpose, had passed resolutions that it was neees? ' s sary to reserve all the mountain ranges, which would have exceeded 60,000 acres of reservations, and the Buller County Council were of opinion that the .whole* county should be reserved. This wijb when Government consulted the local, bodies in 1891 as to the reserves. " x '"'
