(Per Press Association). Auckland, Dec 4. A man named Joseph Meynall, against whom a prohibition order was granted, was charged with being drunk. His Worship said he had given accused every chance, but it was no use. He sentenced him to six weeks' imprisonment, remarking that that would keep him sober daring Christmas. Napier, December 4. As a net result of Michael Davitt's visit here £95 will be sent home to assist the Irish cause. Dunedin, Dec. 4. The return from the Roxburgh Amalgamated Sluicing Company for the month is 276 ounces 17 dwts 15 grains, valued at £1064. A dividend of 6d per share has been declared. A young man named Freeman, formerly employed in a drapery warehouse in town has committed suicide at Moeraki. At the Wesleyan District Synod resolutions were passed in favor of the introduction into the schools of a suitable text-book of Scripture lessons, and the repeal of the CD. Act. At the Supreme Court today, William Bloy, butcher, Lawrence, who on Tuesday was found guilty of failing to keep proper books, and contracting a debt of £16 12s 6d without having reasonable expectations of paying it, wns sentenced to fourteen days' hard labor. The Consolidated Goldmining Company, Blue Spur, washed down on Saturday, after three month's run, returns amounting to 4260x of gold, of the value of £1638. Since, 1892, the company's indebtedness of £18,100 to the Colonial Bank has been paid off out of the proceeds of gold obtained from the mine. Wellington, December 4. The Midland Co.'s witnesses upon the mining portion of their case will be finished to-morrow. Evidence as to the timber will follow, and there is a slight probability bf the company's case finishing so far as the evidence is concerned, this week. The barque George Thompson, which put in here some montns ago in distress, sailed to-day for Glasgow with a cargo of timber. Her original port of departure was Kaipara.
