THE BANK OF NORTH QUEENS LAND. THE SYDNEY STABBING CASE. (Per Press Association.) Melbourne, Sept. 26. In the Legislative Assembly the Tariff Board report was finally passed. A bill founded on the amended schedules was introduced. The railway statistics show tbat last year the consumption of coal on the railways increased 10,000 tons as compared with 1891, although there were two and a quarter millions less train miles run, the increased cost being over £30,000. Brisbare, Sept. 26. The Bank of North Queensland is giving a month's notice to release in full the balance of fixed deposits beld under the rearrangement. This will release £90,000 and leave the Bank completely free. In the Legislative Assembly plans for four new railways opening the Northern agricultural areas at a oost of £493,000 bave been laid on the table. Sydney, September 26. In ihe Legislative Assembly, a proposal to reduce the Governor's salary by 10 por cent, was rejected by 63 to 9. Thomas McLean, assistant steward on board the steamer Australasian, who stabbed a fellow-steward, Thomas Conlson, death resulting from the wound, was charged to-day with murder, and committed for trial.
