The Tariff Bill.
(Per Press Association). Chuistchurcii, Sept. 22. The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce sent a telegram to the Premier and Christchurch members of the House of Representatives, pointiing out the anomalous position of importers in connection with the tariff. During the time the tariff has been iu suspense duties have becu collected in Christ-church ou au understanding with the Collector, and in many cases under the written j bond that all duties paid whilst the tariff was uu>.Jcr discussion should be adjusted at tlio rates nually fixed on by the House — for example, some importers haviug cleared tea at od, others at od and Od per 11>, the agreement entered into by the collectors should be given effect to so that all duty payers shall be placed on one footing.
