SERIOUS LOSSES OF STOCK IN NEW SOUTH WALES. (Per x J ress Association). Sydney, Sept. 8. There is intense heat in the city, whicb is full of smoke from the surrounding bush fires. On the shore, the harbor, and the outer suburbs, the smoke is very black, and sb.ippiug is delayed, the masters having a very anxious time, as the whole coast line is hidden by smoke. , Heartrending accouuts of devastation and losses of stock continue to be received from all parts of the colony. In ' most of the churches to-day prayers were ottered for rain. This Day. The losses of stock by the drought are more severe owing to the fact that for the last few years exceptionally good seasons have induced owners to stock i heavily. The Riverina is the only disi trict, so far, not seriously effected.
