A Mysterious Death.

(Per Press Association.) Dtjnedin, August 30. At the inquuest touching the death of John Freeland the evidence showed that the man had taken several lots of Gregory's powders. Of the last lot he received from the chemist he only took one, aud &borMy afterwards he said he said he had been poisoned. Emetics were given, but the man disci. The cbemisfc stated that the powders were taken from a stock bottle from which Freeland had been served before, and others have had some since without injurious effect. The iDqucst was adjourned for a week to allow of Professor .black making an analysis of the stomach.
