The sixteenth annual meeting of lembers of the Feilding Jockey Club , r as held at the Feilding Hotel last vening. Present — Messrs W. A. L. Jailey, H. L. Sherwill, O. Cooper, E. . Alien, A. R. The minutes of the last annual md committee meetings were read and lonnnned. The report and balance sheet were •cad, showing a net profit of about L'2o had resulted from the transactions >f the year, but in addition to this a mm of £G9 8s 2d had been expended n purchasing a roller, in enlarging the :otalisator house, draining, and other improvements on the course. There was a considerable falling off from the results of previous years, which was caused by the heavy floods at Easter, the fixture having to be postponed. A diminution in the attendance, with a, corresponding falling oft" of receipts crom the totalisator and gates, followed. As the committee held the gates, tiiis loss fell entirely on the club. The meeting entailed a loss of considably over £100. The committee reported having made arrangements for completing the purchase of the race course property, consisting of 67 acres 3 roods, at the price arranged in the existing leaso — via., £2i per acre, or a total of £1625. Mr Turner having agreed to allow £1000 to remain on mortgage for 5 years at 6 per cent, it is anticipated the rents which will be derived from the ground, and the saving which will be effected in the maintenance of the course and training track, will more than meet the interest payable on the mortgage, which will be only £10 more than the rent now paid. The Racing Conference had agreed to allow the club to retain their two meetings. The balance-sheet showed the receipts for the year to be £2457 19s 6d, including .£2OO transferred from fixed deposit. The chief items of revenue were : £1000 9s 6d from the totalisator— £ss2 15s 6d from the spring meeting and £447 14s from the Easter meeting ; privileges, £242 18s from spring meeting and £'260 3s from Easter meeting ; members' subscriptions, i 65 12s ; nomination and acceptance fees, £618 ss. The principal items of expenditure were : For stakes paid, £1501 ; Government tax on totalisator, £166 4s 7d; rent, rates, and insurance, £55 2s ; advertising and printing, £90 13s 4d ; labour and wages, £51 IBs ; maintenance of training track, £14 12s lOd ; top-dressing and draining, £24 19s ; salaries to handicapper (£6O), secretary (£CO), and starter (L2l), £131. In addition to these there are sundry other accounts. There is a credit balance in the bank of £211 0s sd. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr W. A. L. Bailey, seconded by Mr Bastings, That the report and balance-sheet as read be adopted. In speaking to the motion, Mr Sandiiands thought the list of members might be increased. The number of members was very small for a place like Feilding, and if they should make an effort, he thought, the membership might be increased considerably. Mr Hunt was of opinion that if the members' tickets were made to include the admission of ladies the membership •would be increased. A motion was proposed by Mr Cooper, notice of which had previously been given, That each member's ticket admit one lady to the races. An amendment, which was carried, was proposed by Mr Bastings, and seconded by Mr Sherwill, That two ladies' tickets be issued to each member. The question of purchasing the course was then discussed, the proposal being to raise £1000 by way of mortgage and the balance by overdraft from the bank, The draft deed of trust was read, in which provision was made for the per. sons signing the guarantee and executing the mortgage being protected. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Bailey, seconded by Mr Bastings, That this Club purchase the racecourse ground from Mr Turner in terms of the report. Resolved, That the incoming Committee arrange who the guarantors shall be. Resolved, That this meeting approves of the draught deed of covenant, and that the guarantors execute the deed. Messrs J. J. Bagnall, G. Kirton, and P. J. Murtagh, were elected members of the Club. The election of officers resulted as follows .-—President, Mr F. Y. Lethbridge; vice-president, Mr Win. L. Bailey ; judge, Mr W. H. Hartgill ; treasurer, Mr E. J. Allen ; clerk of scales, Mr O. Cooper ; handicapper, Mr J, E. Henry; starter, Mr E. Wood; committee, Messrs W. A. L. Bailey, W. A.
