New Plymouth, This Day. The Waikato natives at Parihaka have placed the King's flag at Te "Whiti's feet, and asked him to be their ruler. Te Whiti declined the offer as he might not have the power to control the men who were not living with him. The natives are feasting at Parihaka in grand style. Dunedin, July 21. A phase of the case iv in which the Southland Frozen Meat Company claims .£BO,OOO damages from Nelson Bros, for breach of agreement came before Mr Justice Williams in Chambers yesterday in the shape of a summons for discovery of documents and one for interrogatories. In giving judgment, His Honor said he thought the interrogatories should be answered, and both orders were made as prayed. At the Educational Beard's meeting the scheme for the classification of schools and position of teachers was adopted, after being amended, but with the understanding that two of the most important regulations should be open for review when the the three members of Parliament are present. One of the regulations, "No teacher shall be promoted except to a class higher than the class from which he is promoted," is the crux of the whole scheme. Port Chalmers, July 21. The barquetine Delmira, which lias arrived from Maiden Island after a passage of 67 days, had a very stormy voyage. After clearing the Tropics she had fearful gales and hurricane squalls of hail and sleet, with terrific seas, and oil bags had to be used to keep the sea down. For the last 39 days the vessel had only had 17 hours of northerly wind. Invercargill, July 22. John Potter, a draper, aged 25, on arriving home for lunch to-day, fell dead.
