Sensational Shooting Case.

o A BAILIFF SHOT BY A FARMER. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, July 19. Information was received of a shooting affray at Balfour, Southland. A farmer named John Keown, shot at a bailiff named Hugh Stewart, from Gore, on Saturday afternoon. Another bailiff named Middlemiss was present and galloped away on seeing the fate of his comrade. The bailiff went to Keown's place to seize his horses. The first intimation gave the impression that the man was killed, but the latest intelligence states that he is alive though shot through the bead. Keown was arrested. Two constables are attending to Stewart until the doctor arrives.
