UNIMPROVED VALUES.
The idea of rating on unimproved values although it finds favor with some people yet they do not appear to have taken any trouble to make themselves acquainted with the future possibilities of the proposed change. Some time ago the county authorities in the Wiir.irapa went into the question — says the Wairar.apa Daily Times — and found that by rating upon unimproved values many large landholders would beuetit to a considerable extent, while small properties would have to make good the deficiency by having their rates doubledAnd yet the owners of small properties are expected to support the movement, being assured that it will hit the big man and spare them.
