The Addington Stock Sale.

(Per Press Association). Curistchurch, June 19. The weather was bitterly cold for the live stock market to-day. The entries were small in all classes except fat cattle. Fat cattle — The sale was somewhat lifeless for all but besfc sorts, which brought from 20s to 21s per 1001 b ; inferior, 15s to 18s; steers, £5 7s to £9 ; heifers, £3 10s to £6 15s ; cows, £4 7s to £8 7s 6d. Dairy cows — The quality of the smally entry of cows and springers was not up to the mark, and business was done with difficulty at late rates. Store cattle — There were no quotable lines in tbe store cattle pens. Only some 20 ancient cows came forward. Fat sheep — Some 300 fat sheep formed the week's supply. The market opened fairly well, and last week's rates were maintained for all sheep of passable quality. Heavy weights, crossbred wethers, 12s to 15s 9d ; ditto ewes, lis to 13s 6d ; freezing wethers, 10s 9d to 12s 6d ; mixed sexes, 10s to lis 6d ; maiden ewes, 2 and 4-tooth, 9s to 12s ; butcher's best ewes, 8s 6d to 10s 6d ; medium ditto, 6s to 8s ; merino wethers, 7s to 10s 9d ; ewes, 3s 6d to 6s. Store Sheep— Between 3000 and 4000 sheep occupied tbe store pens, the entry being principally turnipers at last week's prices. Good 2-tooth crossbred wethers brought from 8s 6d to 10s 6d ; mixed 2-tootb, from 7s to 9s ; a line of halfbred downs up to 9s 9d ; ewes in lamb, 5s 9d to 7s 6d ; hoggets, 6s to 7s 3d. Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report at Johnsonville : — "We had a full supply of both cattle and sheep fou, our sale to-day. Cattle are without quotable change, but sheep improved about ls per head. Onr quotations are: — Cattle — Best bullocks, L 7 to L 7 17s 6d ; others, L 6 5s to L 6 15s ; veal calves, 25s to 27s each. Sheep — Best wethers, 12s 7d to 12s 8d j others, 9s 7d to 10s lOd ; small wethers, 8s ld. Pigs— Small porkers, 17s to 17s 6d; stores, 12s to i4s 6d.
