The Stock Market.
Messrs Lowes and lorns report : — At their Masterton stock sale on Wednesday, stock was considerably in excess of advertised numbers and the quality throughout being good, the bidding was spirited, nearly every pen selling under the hammer. The cattle entries were confined to a few pens of beef, young stores and dairy cows, all of which found purchasers, stores still being low. A few pigs were penned, but the season being against them prices ruled low. Several horses offered but none sold by auction. Fat ewes, 6s to 6s Gd ; good breeding ewes, 5s 6d ; forward wethers, 7s ; stores, 6s to 6s 6d ; me* diuin, 3s to 4s 6d ; culls, 2s ; small 2tooth, 3s 6d ; culled lambs, Is 6d ; rams, 26s ; ram lambs, las ; fat cows, L 45s to L 5; dairy cows, L 4 ss ; yearlmas and 18- months cattle, 33s ; pigs, 5s to 15s.
