Wanganui Education Board.
• The Board resumed yesterday morning, the samo members being present. Committee — The list of Committees returned at the last annual election was read. It was decided that all places where Committees had not been returned a new election should be held on the first Monday in June, and in cases where the full membership had not been elected the vacancies were filled by appointments in accordance with recommendations received from the respective districts. Teachers' Classes. — A list of those teachers who would attend the proposed teachers' classes was read, numbering 28. Reports on Pupil Teachers and Cadets. — On the motion of Mr Budge, seconded by Mr Fry, it was resolved, " That in cases where reports upon pupil teachers and cadets on probation, whicii sbould have been sent in under regulation 4, have not been forwarded to the Board the teachers in charge have their attention drawn to the regulation, and they be requested to send them in at once." Carpenter's Report. — Tho carpenter's report for the past month was read and received. Marton.— lt was resolved, on the motion of Mr Beckett, seconded by Mr Fry, That the election of the school committee be declared void, and that a fresh election be held on the first Monday in June. Stanway. — Letter re necessity of repairs to school residence. Referred to Mr Fry. Pukeroa. — Letter re proposed removal of school. Resolved to ask for further information. Marton.— Mr Hurley moved, and Mr Bridge seconded, in view of the financial position of the Board, that no tenders be accepted at this meeting for the Marton addition, and the motion was put and lost. Tenders were then opened, and the amounts being in excess of the amount proposed by the Board, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Bridge, that they be declined, and that further steps with reference to Marton be held over. 1 Upper Taonui — Letter asking that all books to native children be supplied free ; , letter received. Bunnythorpe— Letter applying for grant for fencing ; resolved to grant £1 • for ill up to £5. Taonui — Letter re attendance at school being affected by epidemic. I Feilding — Letter from Committee, requesting that the enlargement of the school should be gone on with as soon as possible. — Chronicle.
