Live Cattle Trade.
A CASE OF PLEURO PNEUMONIA. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION). Christchurch, This Day. Mr Gilruth, Government Veterinary Surgeon, arrived at Lyttelton this morning for the purpose of taking steps in connection with the Australian cattle on the steamer Perthshire. Instructions were received from Wellington that the vessel be allowed to proceed to sea and it was learned tbat the bullock killed that morning had been found to be suffering from contageous pleuro-pneu-monia. The other animal, which died on Tuesday, showed signs of gangrenous pneumonia. Both bodies were left on the steamer, and will be thrown overboard when she gets out at sea. Wellington. This Day. The Government have cabled to the Agent-General to take precautions to make it clear the Perthshire's shipment of cattle have nothing to do with New Zealand. Communications are also passing with Queensland.
