Disastrous Floods in Queensland.
«. i MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN FLOATING DOWN A RIVER A NUMBER OP LIVES LOST. (Per Pres9 Association.) Brisbane, This Day. A telegram from Port Douglas states that very seyere floods have been experienced in the Daiutree district. During Friday night the rivers rose 8 feet, wbich is higher than ever known before. A cottage containing Mrs Reynolds, Girtie Rejnolds, and Leslie Fischer was swept away down the river and smashed to pieces, all three occupants being drowned. A man named Masterton with his wife and family went down the river on the top of a house. One of the boys was killed, and Masterton had his le^ broken, while his wife with her baby took refuge up a tree when the house collapsed, and were there 24 hours before they could be rescued. A man named Kin/?, and the man Blackman also perished in the flood. Most of the settlers on the river bank lost houses and provisions
