Polo Tournament.

0 MANAWATU DEFEATS CHEISTCHURCH. (Per Press Association.) Cheistchuech, March 20. The Polo Tournament was resumed in favourable weather to-day, and the attendance was again very good. The matches set down for decision were Manawatu against Christchurch first teams and Ashburton against Christchurch seconds. The Christchurch firsts were much handicapped by losing the services of Palmer, who had not recovered from the effects of the fall on Monday, and by the crippled condition of Lane who took his arm out of a sling to play, and by an accident which befell Parker before the end of the first spell. Clark filled Palmer's place, aud the local men played up well, but Manawatu had the advantage of being fast, and during eacb of the first two spells scored a goal. Christchurch then rallied for the last spell, and by dashing play, in which Lane, Clark, and Parker were all prominent, scored two goals in quick succession. This made the scores equal. Five minutes before the call of time, but just as the bell was ringing to stop play, the Manawatu players hit the ball over the line and won the game by 3 to 2. Ashburton were altogether too good for the Christchurch second team, and won by 10 to 3. The following were the teams engaged to-day : — Manawatu — Lloyd, Snow, Dacre, Williams ; Chrititchurch first — Rhodes, Clark, Lane, Parker; Ashburton — Saunders, Roberts, Buckley, Claridge; Christchurch second— Robinson, Todhunter, Gould, Archer. To-morrow Rangitikei first will play Manawatu, and Rangitikei second will play Ashbnrton.
