Cricket News.

o On Saturday next an interesting cricket match will be played at Feilding, ■when the Colyton and Carnarvon teams meet to play off a Cup match. Should Colyton prove victorious then they ■win the Cup, but if they are beaten then the chances are divided between Colyton, Carnarvon and Birmingham. The Cup matches are now almost concluded, and Feilding, as usual, is sadly in the back ground, despite the fact that they have at their disposal by far the best ground of any of the adjacent Clubs, and other conveniences which the others do not enjoy. The cause is easily detected. Excepting one or two members of the Club who endeavour to get a practice now and again, the majority of the players (most of whom are invariably picked to play when a match comes on) nevex go near the ground between matches, and apparently take not the slightest interest in the game, and the result is, naturally, a miserable display when called upon to take part in a contest. The continual " dressing down " which the Feilding Club gets should suffice to wake up its members into a little activity ; but it appears a greater power is needed to move some of them. However, it is to be hoped that new blood will eventually retrieve Feilding's lost honors. A scoring telegraph has been presented to the Feilding Cricket Club by Mr C. A. J. Levett and was used in the Cup match last Saturday for the first time. It has been arranged to play the Cup match Carnarvon v. Palmerston on the Feilding ground, instead of the Palmerston ground as previously arranged, on Saturday, March 2nd.
