The Tariff Commission.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, February 5. The Tariff Commission resumed this morning, but at the request of witnesses the press was not admitted to the proceedings. Mr Batkin was examined with reference to the tobacco duties. Mrs Hinsch gave evidence with regard to the New Zealand wine industry, and Mr Danks drew attention to the unfair competition to which those in the trade were subjected by the importation of coir goods manufactured in Indian and other goals. Messrs Read and Fenwick, glass silverers and bevcllers, also appeared before 'the Commission. A delegate from the Wellington Typographical Society will give evidence to-night.
