Correspondence.
WRESTLING. TO THS EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — My object in writing on the above subject is not to combat "Vox Populi's " very foolish, not to say canting ideas about wrestling. His hollow pretences have already been knocked into staves by " Athlete." Does " V.P." expect to see vegetable or mineral Bports on tho grounds ? In my country wrestling was accounted chief of athletic sports, and, being a splendid developer of muscle and agility, was a common and favourite pastime of all young people — even of girls ; and I need not add — for all peoples know it— that my countrymen are the grandest and best of all people. I never took much interest in the Feilding sports, because wrestling and other Caledonian games had not found a place on the programme ; bat now that wrestling has found a place there I wish to ask Stewards who may be on the ground to kindly stand out of the way or sit down while the wrestling is going on, so that all, including " Bill Sikes," may have a chance of seeing the fine play. It is my opinion that " Vox Populi " and " Bill Sikes " are one and the same person — he is "Vox Populi" when wrestling in church and "Bill Sikes " when chasing roosters from his garden peas. t am, Sec, Caledonian.
