Mr Cecil Rhodes and Madagascar

Ribot, ex-French Minister, stated in the Chamber of Deputies that before the treaty was signed with Great Britain in 1890, Mr Cecil Rhodes, whom he described as an ardeut and venturesome spirit, desired to seize Madagascar, and was bitterly disappointed when the agreement was come to between the two nations. ________
