REFORMS IN the CIVIL SERVICE. fPKR PRKBS ASSOCIATION). Melbourne, November 20. There is every prospect of drastic reforms in the civil service being recommended by the committee appointed by the Cabinet. The Premier approves of affiliation of the Customs and Finance Departments, also those of Public Works and railway construction. Among other amalgations discussed is the inclusion of the Post Office Department under some other Minister. This Day. Replying to a question, the Premier said ho did not feel justified in recalling the Agent-General m the interests of retrenchment, but the Government would take steps to reduce the salary of future holders of the post.
