The debate on thia second t reading of the Lands Improvement and Native Lands Acquisition Bill was continued until after midnight, when Mr O'Began moved as an amendment that the Bifl be referred' back to the Government for the purpose of introducing fhctprh> tipal of betterment into.it. , After further debate th^e amendment was lost on the voices, the 2nd reading was carried by 42 to 7. :i -^" The House rose at 2 a.m. .
