Wellington beat New South Wales by 9 points to 51 A slight drizzle' made the ground very slippery, and the game was mostly a forward one/ 7 the backs having little .chance of shining. The Sydney forwards showed excellent "form, and out played the local scrummere. Wellington scored a J Surprise try in the first three minutes, and their opponeuts responded with another, 77 from which a goal was kicked. In. the second half Wellington got two more tries through good dribbling and following up, the Sydney backs being unable to stop the greasy ball/ Onrthe whole, the game was fairly even, the ball being as often at one end as the other. There were about 4000 spectators present, including His Excellency the Governor. ' * :>"•*,, Wklington, This Day.
