to the editor of the star. Sir, — In reviewing the selection of tbe Mauawatu division of footballers in the Wanganui-Manawatu v. New Soutb Wales match, I must give Mr A. J. Weekcs (as no doubt he selected tbe Manawatu players) great credit for tho party feeling displayed, but am surprised at his want of judgment in selecting six players from the teams standing third and fourth respectively on the list for tbe season's Cup matches ; it will, no doubt, act as balm to his wounded dignity to be able te say although Feilding are the champions yet we (Palmerston) have six representative players as against Feilding and Marton's two. I hope that this will be a lesson for Feilding to see that they are better represented on the selection committee in the future. How Mr Weekes can justify the selection of L. Isherwood after being such a frost in the Marborough and Canterbury matches in preference to A. Richards, who played a sterling game in each match, astonishes me. J. Matravers, who was a probable Manawatu representative last season for Australia, is put out of the team by J. Manning, a very good junior player, and who stayed at home on Saturday while Matravers journeyed to "Wanganui in the hope of being picked. There are other mistakes I could point out, but it is too late to remedy them now. We will see the result oh Monday. —I am, etc,, Fair Play. Feilding, August 31.
