AUGUST WEATHER, 1894. TO THE EDITOR OP THE STAK. Sir, — The total rainfall for the past' month was 2-76 inches, the heaviest rainfall in one day being o*6o inches, which was registered on the 18th. Rain was registered on 20 days during the month. There were four frosty nightsonly, viz., on the sth, 6th, Tth and 23rd, the coldest night being that of the sth, when the mercury fell to 25 degrees, the lowest during the present winter. The mean temperature taken at 9.30 a.m. was 44*41 degrees, the ( highest being 48 degrees on the 28th, and the lowest 25 degrees during the 1 night of the sth. 1 The rainfall during the past three ! months of June, July, and August, ' although we seem to have experienced a very rainy winter, was 8 - 94 inches , only, as against 13-12 inchs during the ; corresponding months of 1893.
