The Frozen Meat trade.

In their last report on the frozen meat trade, dated June 22, Messrs Nelson Bros, report :— The market has recently been glutted with va»t numbers of legs of mutton, and prices have in consequence receded to a very low ebb. At long as legs were tent Home cut from prime but heavy sheep, fairly cut and neatly trimmed, they sold freely at good prices, 5d to s£d per lb being readily given, but those now received are, very many of them, taken from poor quality old ewes, unfairly cut with chump left on, rough and unsightly, and are hard to sell at 3£ per lb. The same remarks apply to shoulders of mutton. The first sent from Napier were well cut and trimmed, very good meat, clean and sightly, and sold, in long lines, at 4d per lb; recent shipments are now offering at Smithfield, rough and badly cut, and fetching 3d per lb and less. -• ■ : ■ ' " -" r
