Russia is indignant at British firms and officers supporting the Chinese. Shanghai, August 9 Tbe Japanese loss at Seikwan was slight. The troops occupy a strong position at Yashan. There are great rejoicings at Tokio and Yokohama over the success of the Japanese arms. The Mikado has ordered the Chinese residents in Japan to be left unmolested so long as they remain quiet. A report is current that the Japan ese fleet has been defeated, but no details are to handThe Japanese are pouring troops into Chimulpo and Genson. The Emperor of China is levying a war tribute on the viceroys of provinces. A large number of old soldiers are volunteering against Japan. The Coreans are starving, and are appealing to America for help. London, August 10. The Japanese have ordored a million pounds of beef in New York. Berlin, August 10. The German Government has ordered two more cruisers to Corea.
