i The Palmerston Standard says: — j The United Farmers' Alliance received ! a cablegram yesterday morning from i their London agents, W. "Weddell aud Co., quoting Wellington mutton at from 4id to 4|d and lambSid to s^d. Subsequently another cablegram was received giving later quotations as — mutton 4M to sd, lamb s?d to 6*d. A. G Tame and Co. report holding their monthly Upper Hntt, (Wellington), sale yesterdny, when they yarded 500 fat store sheep and a large number of dairy and other cattle. Sheep were dull of sale owing to several intending buyers being unable to attend. Fut ewes brought 8s 6d nnd 7s 9d, the bnJk being turned onl unsold We sold dairy heifers up to £5 10s; eight mixed cows ut £4 5s in a line, and others at £4 10s to £3 10s, mostly aged sorts and a bit off calving ; calves, 23s 6d Pigs Weavers, 10s; stoves, three months old, 15s There was a very good demand for good young cows close to calving, and any of this sort coming to our Lower Hutt sale next Thursday will meet with plenty of competition.
