Feilding R.M. Court.

THIS DAY. (Before Mr Brabant, R.M.) H. Pickering v. J. Corkhill ; claim £5 19s. Mr Sandilands for plaintiff*. Judgment for amount claimed, with costs 14s, and solicitor's fee 21s. John Glover v. E. Browning; claim £5 9s 6d. Mr Iteade for plaintiff. Adjourned to next Court day. R. Sheehy v. J. Huddlestone ; claim £2 4s. Mr Reade for plaintiff. Judgment for the amount claimed with costs 6s. Wm. Smith v. J. H. Scott ; claim J-'IO. Mr Bishop for plaintiff and Mr Prior for defendant. This was a claim for lodgings. Wm. Smith gavt evidence in support of the claim, which was for ten weeks board and lodging, and was crossexamined at length by Mr Prior. It was plaintiffs contention that this was a charge for the first ton weeks prior to an arrangement made ; defendant left after fourteen mouths and paid for his lodgings from the end of the ten weeks. Mrs Smith gave a de' ail id account of the arrangements with defendant in corroboration of the previous witness' evidence. J. H. Scott, defendant, was sworn and gave evidence, making a genez'al denial of plaintiff's statement as to the arrangements for the first ten week's board now claimed. Geo. Fidler gave evidence for the defence. Mr Prior addressed the court for the defence. Mr Bishop replied. Judgment for plaintiff for .£5, without costs, to be paid at the rate of £1 per month, first payment to be made on March Oth. J. Gibson v. Martha Hastie ; ciaim £1. Mr Sandilands for defendant. Mr Sandilands for defendant. In this case the summons was taken out in Christchurch, and defendant applied to have her evidence taken in Feilding. Martha Hastie deposed to arranging with plaintiff for inserting an advertisement in the New Zealand Almanac for one year and paid £1 for same ; in 1890 arranged for another year and paid £'1 as before ; received a receipt from the local agent, Mr W. Reading ; up to the time of making the second payment had not received an account charging 80s a year ; wrote and told tho firm she had a receipt and the next thing she got was a summons.
