Football Disputes.
(PER PEESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, This Day. Information has been received that the sub-committee of the English Rugby Union cabled to Sleight, as representative of the Otago Union, to appear before it to give the reasons of the ruling that the Otago Union remained outside the New Zealand Rugby Union. The Canterbury Union's delegate was also asked to attend, but did dot do so. Palliser is representing the New Zealand Union by invitation. Sleight stated a number of objections, and charged the New Zealand Union with professionalism. This having been answered by Palliser, the committee resolved, That in its opinion the only reasonable objection Otago had to joining the New Zealand TJuion was that representation on the committee in New Zealand was not a fair one. And that if steps could be taken with the view of giving large centres, such as Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Duuedin, equal representation, and those of the other Unions smaller representation, on the lines of the English Union, the Committee would take seriously into consideration the question of the New Zealand team visiting England, irrespective of Canterbury or Otago. The correspondence will be placed before the annual meeting of the New Zealand Union in April next.
