fHE Public Trust Office of Hew Zealand ia a Government iiistftution to Afford, at low rates Of commission, a secure and couvuuiont recourse for those who, desirous of forming trusts in the colony, cannot satisfactorily aplioiut private trustees or executors, and lor persons unablo or unwilling to undertake or I coutiuuo the administration of tho trusts accepted by or imposed upon them. The Public Trust Office, constituted by "The Public Trust OUico Act, 1872," has boen since much enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing requirements. The Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against loss to estates from investments at the discretion of tho Public Trustee, and insures tbe regular payment of tbe interest. The Security and Fidelity of the Pub. lie Trustee's administration must bo considered of the utmost importance to every person contemplating the appointment of a trustee Tho colony guarantees the fidelity of the administration, and Guarantees aISO the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at tho option of tho Public Trustee. The Colony Guarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of the properties placed in tho Public Trust Office, * common rate of interest, to be paid quarterly, Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The value of this guarantee Is in the Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or Insufficient securities, and against loss from delay in invest* mont, and for tho regular and punctual payment of tho interest, free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. In the appointment ot Trustees there must always be serious concern as to th« security of the capital funds : and tbe largor the capital funds the Rroator must be the concern for security, and tho loss for a high rate of interest. Tho PubHC Trustee cannot die, cannot loave the colony, cannot become aiaquaUDcrt, or involved iv private difficulties, and cannot be distrusted, In privato trustcoships, death and absence render necessary numerous and esponsiTO doerts not required by Public Trustee's ad' ministration, which lias, besides, the offl«« solicitor's advice without expense to the estates.
