More Election Petitions.
MESSRS BELL, DUTHIE, AND NEWMAN TO FACE THE ORDEAL. PRESS ASSOCIATION/. Wellington, January 10. The Post has authority for stating that Mr E. G. Jellicoe has been instructed to lodge a petition against the return of Mr H. D. Bell for one of the Wellington seats on the ground that he made improper payments in connection with his election contest. The names of the petitioners have not been divulged. It is rumoured that steps =ire also to be taken to try and unseat Mr J. Duthie and Dr Newman. His Honor the Chief Justice and Mr Justice Richmond are the Judges before whom the petition against Sir Robert Stout's return is to be inquired j into. The date of hearing has not [ been fixed, but it will probably be ! early in February. ; This Day. ! The Returning Officer for Wellington j has heard nothing officially of the petitions against Messrs Bell and Duthie, nor has the Returning Officer for the Suburbs heard anything of the petition against Dr Newman.
