The question of takinir precautions to prevent the introduction to Auckland of cholera or other infectious diseases by passengers or cargo was referred to the local Board of Health. Westpobt, September 15. The first rake of coal, 25 trucks, from the Mokihinui Coal Company's mine arrived this evening by tho train, which, on reacbißg the station, was received with cheers by the crowd assembled. The coal was of excellent quality, and fully equal to the coal of Brookdale. Five hundred tons will be shipped next week. Dunkdin, September i 5. The Board of Land Purchasing Commission has held sittings here all this week to consider offers to the Government of land and settlement. The proceedings have not been made public.
