The Weather

Captain Edwin wired to-day : — Southeast and south*west gales, with ram and much colder weather, after six hours from now, glass will rise. Heavy rains set in again yesterday morning, and have continued with more or less intermission up to the time of our going to press. However, as will be seen from Captain Edwin's wire, better prospects may shortly be anticipated. No damage has yet been reported, but the rivers and creeks in this district are rising very quickly. The north-east approach to the Warwick street bridge is showing slight signs of giving way, in consequence of the heavy flood water now running dowu the Makino stre&m.
