» On Saturday next Mr Trimble will hold a very large sale. Besides the privileges of the sports and races he will sell a valuable brake, horses, &c, also a quantity of drapery and clothing. This sale promises to be the event of the week. To-day Mra Oliver, of the Empire Hotel, announces by special advertise* tnent, that she has made all necessary provisions to supply her friends and customers with the best of everything during the Christmas time, now so close at hand. At the. same time she tenders her sincere and grateful thanks for the very liberal support she has received during the past year. Sails, tents, and ropes of all kinds are manufactured wholesale at Mr C. Dahl, Palmerston North, who. intimate to-day that he has also large tents, marquees, and flags of all nations for hire. . The horsecoversi oilskins, ropes, and twines made by Mr Dahl, are already wellknown in this neighbourhood for their good quality. The manager of the Ready Money Store, Palmerston North, Mr M. Cohen, notifies by advertisement to. day that Christmas is coming, and his firm will deliver, at the Palmerston Eailway Station, or in the surrounding districts, hampers containing two gallons of assorted ales, wines and spirits at very low prices. As. to what the firm has in stock in the way of fruits, Canterbury hams, and Indian condiments, we refer our readers to the advertisement. The Denbigh Hotel is one of the best conducted in the colony, and the reputa* tjon of the popular proprietor, Mr William Light, as a host is so well known that no comment on that point is needed. As a buyer of wine Mr Light excels, there being few better judges in the oolony, therefore whatever he vends is sure to b 6 the best in the market. In oujf advertising columns Mr Light invites his old friends, whether as visitors from other parts or local residents, to couie and see him during lhe Christmas holidays to ex. change Christmas greetings. There is one thing every housewife should know, and that 13 — Hercules Baking Powder is the best. Why ? It is the cheapest because it is the best for making bread, pastry, cakes, puddings, scones, etc. In 6d and Is tins.
