Walter Trick er was committed for trial on a charge of obtaining 81 head of cattle from Mills, Linton, and Armstrong on the pretence that he was buying for William Booth;and Co., of Carterton.
The continuous dry weather has had a serious effect ou the potato crop in this distnet, and it is feared that the yield will be touch below the average.

Duncan Morrison of Glendonald, Lower Valley, the oldest settler in the Wairarapa, was thrown from his horse on Wednesday on Blairlogie road, while on a visit to his late brother John Morrison's people, and died from internal injuries last night at Earswell.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency are calling tenders for tbe cartage of wool from Waikaia station to Invercargill, a distance of sixty -five miles. It is believed the wool can be carried cheaper than by rail. Mr Dillon speaks here on the 12th December. The reception committee are working hard in the'counfcry districts, and it is believed the delegates will receive an enthusiastic welcome.
