The Wesleyan Pic-nic
This annual gathering under the> auspices of the Feilding WesleyanY Church congregation took place yesterday, at Mr. Henson's, at Mangaone* The threatening aspect of the weather in the early part of the day, and that showers which came down later on, no doubt deterred many from attending/ who would otherwise have been present. As it was upwaris of 1 00 persona resorted thither in various kinds off vehicles, on horseback, or on foot. The rain suddenly put a stop to the proceedings taking place ia the beau* tifully secluded spot hitherto used for the purpose, and an adjournment waa made to Mr Henson's house, wher* the visitors were entertained in a most liberal manner, the Henson family/ doing all in their power to make their guests feel at home, the treatment they received being a good set-off against the oierk of the weather, who only allowed very short intervals for the indulgence of a few outdoor games. The edibles were plentiful and of excellent quality, and were contributed by various ladies of the Wesleyan and other denominations.
