.The- ''Mayor announces, in. .another column, that a public meeting will be held in the Town Hall on Monday evening next to pats resolutions urging upon the' Government the necessity and advantage of haring a survey made of the . Northern Central Railway route, starting fr&n Feilding. It is within the knowledgft I'of1 ' of most of our readers that an •excellent lino from Feilding has already "been; surveyed by Mr Barton, and the *ketch\ maps 7 giving the plottings and «levatioDß will be produced at the meeting. It is believed that Mr Rochfort has -reowred instructions from the Government to make a survey .of the Feilding xoutfe/ but «s nothing definite is known on the subject, the resolutions which will bo laid before the meeting, if accepted, wiR have the effect of drawing the immediate attention of the Government to the advantages offered by Barton's line, and k -inducing thsui to take immediate steps to complete a new survey under the direction Of Mr Rochfort. We urge upon : «yeryone who bas the real interests of Aihf place at heart to attend, and aid; by "his presence, the convener of the meeting in oarrying out-so laudable a project.
