Baptist Conference.

(pee united pbess association.) Nelson, This Day. The annual session of the Baptist Conference commenced yesterday. Seventeen ministers and delegates wre present, and President C. Carter, of Ponsonby, was in the chair. The report showed a net increase of 207 members, the total membership being 2230. New churches have been formed at Oamaru and Mosgiel. The Sunday schools contain 28,000 scholars. The treasurer's report gave receipts to be £102, expenditure £17, leaving a balance of £86. A request from the Christchurch Baptist Association, inviting the X nion to take charge of the New Zealand Baptist, and make it a journal for the whole denomination was agreed to.
