STOCKS AND SHARES
SOME PRICES EASIER
LOANS IN DEMAND
"Evening Post," October 5,
Values of some New Zealand shares generally dealt in were inclined to ease this week, and there would appear to be no doubt but that the compulsory loan is having an unsettling effect on the share market. The demand for gilt-edged investments, however, continues strong, especially for longdated and this refers to city 4£ per cents, as well as to Government loans. Bank and insurance shares show but little change over the week, and they continue in good demand, but with sellers inclined to meet the market. New Zealand industrials remain steady, but the business reported in such shares does not indicate any feverish demand and in some instances, concessions were made by sellers. GOVERNMENT LOANS. A fair amount of business has been reported in Government loans this week with special attention paid to the remoter maturities and some advances in prices paid. Approximate prices for New Zealand Stocks last year and prices paid last week and this week are as follows: — Kate Oct.
