COMEDY MISSES FIRE.
Randolph Carter is the author of a comedy called "Arms for Venus," about a widow who tries to starve herself to-death in her husband's, ancient Roman tomb. The lady's suicidal'tendencies are interrupted by a talkative Nero and an amorous soldier; somehow the comedy missed fire. Mr. Carter is only out of Yale three-years, and as some of his reviewers said, "his parole should be revoked." There were signs of cleverness in the comedy, however, and critics were kind enough to suggest, that he be not frightened away from the theatre altogether. With experience he may become a successful playwright.
