FLOOD OF MAIL
So heavy have the, postings of. letter and other mail in Auckland become towards the end of the business day that,' following negotiations between the Postal Department and the Railway Department^ it is proposed to change the time 'of departure of the express to the south from 7 p.m. to 7.15 p:m.,' states the "New Zealand Herald." The letter ■■■ mail for. the Limited express closes at the' Chief Post.Office at 5 p.m. at a time when the sorting and dispatching; of mails generally is ati^s peak, and to select between 50 and 60 bags of letters for the south in the restricted time available, while, dealing, with the general rush, has become a major operation. On the other hand, the business community finds that the closing time ot the letter mail for the Limited clashes with the closing, hour of offices, and >the Auckland Chamber- of Commerce has made representations to the Chief Postmaster, Mr. W. G. Cooper, that the . closing time should be extended by five minutes. ' *
