BAVIN'S BITTER ATTACK ■ COMPLACENT REPLY
\ (Received sth February, noon.) . SYDNEY, This Day. A bitter attack upon the Government for its failure to provide assistance for necessitous farmers was made in the Legislative Assembly by tho Leader of the Opposition, Mr. T. R. Bavin. He urged the immediate repeal of the legislation restoring the 44-hour week and other measures designed to assist the city worker as against the farmer. He suggested that the Loan Council be approached for financial assistance to- tide the farmers over a difficult period, and further promised support for a sales tax on flour, which would provide £800,000 a year. Tho Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, declared that tho late Government was responsible for the present state of farmers, whose difficulties would be removed in the brighter days to come under Labour government. "-'
