An important conference is proceeding at Canberra on finance, unemployment, and help for fanners between the Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. ■ Scullin,' tho Federal Treasurer, Mr. E. G. Theodore, and tho ' chairman of the Commonwealth Bank, Sir Eobert Gibson. A series of financial proposals evolv-, ed by Mr.' Theodore will be placed before Sir Robert Gibson, who will be askod how far the . Commonwealth Bank will be able to assist the Government's revised plans for coping with unemployment, and affording relief to wheat growers. . The outcome of the conference is awaited in all parts of the Commonwealth. : So desperate is the plight of hundreds of farmers;in the wheat and irrigation areas of the western and southern portions of New South Wales that they have pledged themselves to resist any attempt, to. foreclosure, and to refraiii from bidding for one another's properties.
