Following upon a request from the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department for assistance from the Wellington City Council ii» arranging for lighting and water supply at Napier, Mr. Cable (general manager of the tramways), Mr. M'Killip (waterworks) and Mr. Thompson left yesterday morning-for Napier. Mr. Cable took additional powerful, portable lights. More are being sont. Several Wellington traffic offi-eers arc being sent to roadway connections between here and Napier to control the traffic, and to prevent those per-., sons pioceednig to Napier who have no pprmit or no right to do so, as the traffic on the roads is seriously intorfering with ambulance and other necessary work.
